The world is a crazy place. It's full to bursting with people and the societies and cities wrought by their hands. But the world of spirits, visible only to the select few humans known as "Spectrals" is privy to a breed of madness others only know in their dreams.

In this Roleplay players will interact in an open world. You, the players, choose where you go and who you meet. Keep in mind that roleplaying alone is difficult and thread space on the Forum is limited, so it's a good idea to plot and communicate with other players. With this in mind you are free to direct your own story and drive your own plot. As the "GM" of this RP I will only step in for exposition or plot progression, though I am also available to help players and post with NPCs.

This RP is intended to follow a narrative format, much like a book.
Dialogue and spoken word should be included within "quotation marks," with narration written in third person. Internal monologue and thoughts are suggested to be written in italics to differentiate it from narration and speech.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Physical Description: She is an average height for a 15 year old girl (Roughly 5'), has bright golden blonde hair, that she generally braids into a tail. She has one eye that's a chocolate brown, the other is a deep ocean blue. Her features are roundish and generally give off a gentle and caring vibe, except for the thin claw scars across her face that came from a bear, and claw marks on her upper right shoulder. She is in decent shape, she most certainly isn't skinny, but she might be mistaken for a little pudgy because of the baggy clothes she wears. She has a bigger set bust.

Personality: She is a very timid person with very little self-esteem. She is very perceptive on other peoples an animals emotions and generally wants people to be happy, she is just usually afraid to take charge or fight back for herself. She does however have a surprisingly strong will when others are in harms way your are getting hurt. She has a love for animals and the wild, she wants to be an eco-biologist or a veterinarian. She is decently bright, but doesn't think so.

Biography: Terra was born in the country and spent most of her life there, on her family animal shelter for the county. She loved her life there in the small community, and was taught how to take care of animals. One day when she was about 12, her parents went out to take care of a bear sighting in someones lawn. She followed them, wanting to see the bear without their knowledge by hiding in the back of the truck.She ended up getting to close to the bear and received her scars on her face and shoulder before the bear was tranquilized and put down for rabies. She luckily did not catch the disease, (Was given the shot anyway) but left with obvious scars on her body. She cried when she heard the bear was put down.

This event kick-started her development as a spectral since it was a near death experience, but not enough to fully turn her into a spectral, and would have been a full spectral by the time she was 16 if she didn't get possessed right before she turned 15, turning her to a full spectral instantly. The spirit came from a fight in the woods near her house that nearly set the forest ablaze before the spirit was defeated and found her, making her a medium.

The other spectrals found her and gave explained things to her and helped her a little. They got her parents to agree that she should be transferred to the city to go live with her uncle in as it is full of spectrals her age that can help her deal with her new found situation and give her real world experience (They saw her set ablaze so the spectrals chose not to hide her condition from them). As she was home schooled, this her first time in a high school and is immensely nervous.

Spirit Name: Calls itself, That Which Bellows Beneath the Ash. Terra just calls him Ash.

Description: A spirit of destruction by blaze, it is in the form of a giant black dragon with burning eyes and wings made of fire and smoke. The spaces between its scales constantly have a humming orange glow. Its gender is impossible to tell, but generally refers to itself as a He.

Personality: It is a very arrogant and angry spirit, anything and everything is beneath it and things would be better in ash. It enjoys causing destruction on a massive scale and is now horrified it is now inside and contained in such a human, a pitiful one at that. It does not harm her for that would be suicide, releasing a spirit before it has fully recovered leaves it in an incredibly vulnerable state and as long as she doesn't get killed, he is on a quick road to recovery, which probably would be 20 years do to his size and power. He is also quite a lazy spirit, sleeping most of the time, rarely awake, mostly for an hour or two. When he is awake, he is pushing her to act, belittling her for letting herself be pushed around and generally doesn't understand why she hasn't burned everything to the ground with her power as is her right as his vessel.

His world is the world covered in ash, everything is gray and it is constantly raining embers and ash from the cloudy sky. Buildings look like they have been burned down and the air smells stale.

Abilities: She can engulf herself in a flame aura. The aura doesn't burn unless she wills it and protects her by blunting attacks, and can repair itself by absorbing more fire, making it bigger and stronger. She can produce flames and bellow them like a flame thrower and/or throw them like a bolt. The form is weakened by water and cold and hitting a large amount of water can cause her psychic pain and the aura can be put out by by dowsing her in a sufficient pool of water or being subject to enough cold, just like the more she is surround by flame and heat, the stronger her aura becomes. The aura augments her strength and can overwhelm her mind if it gets too strong. She is immensely afraid of this power, not wanting to use it only when absolutely necessary.

Extra Details: The spirit inside her is incredibly dangerous, yet also incredibly lazy and content for now to not try to escape, what would be the point. As such, she is under supervision by the pajama pants people, who at least check up on her.

  She has mild musculature from kick boxing competitively, more so on her legs, but she does exercises so that her arms are not radically weaker than her legs. Typically wears jeans and a loose shirt, but puts on sweats when she’s about to do serious kick boxing.
  
  
• Personality: Elaine always has an energetic feel to her. She’s determined, (and somewhat stubborn), and so whatever she sets her sights on to do, she’ll see it through. She’s always smiling and it’s slightly contagious. She always finds a way to make somebody smile or feel better. She’s quite charismatic, always one to speak up and present ideas for projects, then taking the lead on them. She is a natural born leader and everybody gladly follows, though she makes it feel less like following and more like a group effort. She tends to believe the best of people (as in when everybody tells her to steer clear of a certain person because they're an Ass or something like that) which at times can make it all to easy for others to use her for their own advantage. In that regard she is rather helpless, it really takes her friends to drive a poisonous person away and show her their real colors. She will always try to defuse any situation with words, and is usually quite successful, she only uses force when in defense of herself or of another.
  
  
• Biography: Elaine was born and raised in the city, in a rather large two story house. She had a very happy childhood, well off for the most part. She came from a long line of spectrals and so her childhood was full of spirits and ghosts that floated in and out of her life (her parents made sure to keep any malicious spirits far far away from their daughter). The spirits and ghosts she met were her closest companions. They endlessly entertained her and gave her a patchy education from their side of things, the spirits teaching her their language, and the ghosts telling her stories about their lives and things that she should be aware of in the outside world, like what foods she should avoid, and the exact function of a rubber duck. Her parents home schooled her, thinking that, between the spirits, ghosts and themselves, they had all the bases covered. That is, until Elaine convinced her parents to let her go to a normal school for 4th grade so she could interact with children her own age.
  
  Elaine, so used to the sole company of ghosts and spirits, took a while to adjust to being around the living. When she did a few weeks later, however, she bloomed like mad. The kids swarmed her at recess, asking her to tell them more stories that she had “read”,or  to play with them. As the years passed, she became used to the life she lived; learning with the living during the day, and talking with the spirits and ghosts at night. She was athletic and academic, rigorously studying and learning kickboxing. Her life was in perfect harmony. Then in middle school, while her dad, a doctor, drove her to school, a car ran a red and collided with Elaine’s car. Had she not been a spectral already, she would have become one that day. The drivers side, where Elaine’s dad had been sitting, had been completely pulverized by the other car. The passenger side had been smashed into a tree. Neither driver survived, and Elaine only just. The last two years of her middle school were lonely and quiet. People didn’t know what she was thinking, and didn’t know how to comfort her, or if she wanted comfort at all. In the end they all just left, and Elaine made no effort to bring them back. Her mom, a teacher, worked harder than ever, trying to bring in enough money to keep the house and Elaine’s life, near the same that it was before her father’s death. It wasn’t until she met Osci (in a karaoke joint of all places) that she began to be normal again. She was back to her old self (almost) near the end of freshman year.

• Description: She’s a white rabbit human hybrid looking thing. Rabbit head, human-ish body. The ears look a bit like the prongs of a tuning fork, and when she stands she always moves slightly like a metronome. (The more anxious she gets the faster and more violently she moves). She’s has light blue green (the same as color her spectral energy) eyes and wavy patterns going down her sides. She has a wee bunny tail on her butt. She has long fur all over her body, and is very small, like a six year old sized human.
  
  
• Personality: Osci is a rather subdued spirit. She is not very brave or strong, though her ability is strong, she has no confidence in her abilities, and so the waves come out very weak. She is for the most part, always calm, and super passive, but should it come down to it (mostly if Elaine was in danger) she would rise up in all her glory and protect Elaine! At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself. She gets anxious pretty easily and would probably bolt out of most dangerous situations if there wasn’t anything at stake (usually there wasn’t when she was a free roaming spirit, so she bolted all the time).
  
  
• Abilities: Osci can make sound waves through her voice, though, being a quiet spirit, the waves were always rather weak. The stronger the voice, the more powerful the wave of sound, and Elaine can be quite loud.
  
  
• Biography: Elaine’s mom had decided to drag her to a karaoke joint to try and liven her up. Osci had just been wrecked by a larger, more aggressive spirit and was ready to fade into oblivion until Elaine and her mother walked in. Elaine was concerned, and immediately went over to Osci. She managed to convince Osci to possess a microphone, right before she faded, and after the time in the karaoke joint was up, Elaine took microphone (and Osci) home with her. Once home Elaine spent a long time talking to Osci before blasting a lot of spirit energy to let Osci out, but by that time Osci had grown rather attached to Elaine and opted to stay with Elaine in the microphone.

His features are angular enough to grant him the potential for severity without making him seem too pointed.
  
  His shoulders are broad and his hands worn with work. He is most often found in a gunmetal gray suit with a white dress shirt and violet paisley tie. His tongue is bright neon orange.
  
  
• Personality: Harvey is a warm kind of person. He smiles often and carries with him an air of honesty and welcome. Mister Gray's confident and warm personality is often infectious, and has been known to lighten the moods of those around him. He is, however, also a protector at heart and will be quick to intervene whenever he believes another person may come to harm.
  
  Harvey Gray, while a cheery man, is not necessarily foolishly so. He is also a calculating sort that is not easily fooled. While this makes him an effective tactician, his laid-back nature has led many to think him ignorant of far more than he is.
  
• Biography: Harvey was born and raised in a small rural area south of Stonehaven. He didn't start seeing spirits until around puberty, by which time he had already been indulging in a diet obnoxiously high in citrus. After visiting both doctors and priests, he was finally approached by agents of the Activity Consortium who explained just enough to assure him of his sanity. He trained sparsely throughout highschool until he graduated and moved into an apartment in downtown Stonehaven.
  From there he attended community college and got his Bachelors Degree in education while training with other Consortium Agents in energy manipulation and the art of the Spectral Fist.
  
  Having spent most of his time either in school or training, he didn't have much time for work and lost the apartment shortly after graduating. Not really much of a pessimist, Harvey took the opportunity to travel, working as an Agent of the Consortium as he toured the country and many places worldwide. After four years of this and an "incident" in China, he returned to Stonehaven and started work as an assistant principal at Stonehaven Middle and High School. After two years, he landed the principal job and has held it for the past two years, using his position to help and educate young budding Spectrals.

• Description: An enormous Mother Myconidarian that had managed to grow 6 yards in diameter and five times as long. The disk resembles an enormous toadstool crusted with lichen and edged with wood ear and shelf mushrooms. She sports what appears to be a rafflesia atop her dome, just slightly skewed off center. Her fruiting body is slimy bright orange and barely visible behind thick curtains of white trailing root-like tendrils.
  
• Personality: Momma Myco doesn't talk much but she can transmit simple thoughts and images. Most of them have to do with hunger or decay. At one point she showed Harvey a vision of his own flesh rotting off his bones that made him have to skip his lunch.
  
  While less than friendly, she is also not overtly aggressive. Driven mostly by instinct she is motivated by little more than a desire to build her nest anew. She does, however, show hints of pride and does not suffer slights well.
  
• Abilities: Momma Myco draws cohesion out of standing structures, encouraging decay and disrepair, and similarly scatters and absorbs the spiritual energy of other beings, be they spirit or human. This ability she imparts to Harvey to an extent. Through touch and a mild concentration of effort, he can either accelerate the effects of entropy on an object, or rob an entity of energy, lulling it into an exhausted sleep. He has also developed the ability to spit out globular pieces of his tongue which quickly grow into miniature versions of himself and which operate in accordance with his will.
  
  
• Biography: The Mother Myconidarian had taken root in a very large abandoned theme park and filled it with her spawn. About a decade or so later, a contracting company attempted to demolish the site. This begrudged the brood mother who then managed to send half the demolition crew to the hospital in comas. Having whipping her brood into a swarming frenzy, it took a team of Consortium Agents to contain the her tantrum and subdue her.

• Extra Details: As a result of his bond with Momma Myco, Harvey's hair has started coming in thicker with several streaks of white and a lamentable amount of split ends. His hair is dark and scraggly -- short in the back, long in the font to hide his big brown Bambi eyes (he keeps getting compliments on how pretty his eyes are, and it freaks him out). Always wears the same generic band-logo jacket, which looks like it's been through several deep patches of woods and set on fire, all day every day. It has no sentimental value; it's just really comfy.
  
  
• Personality: If one were to ask around the school for Kaiser Wilhem, the general answer would be a grimace and an “ehhh… that guy?...” Kaiser is an unpleasant person. He always sits in the back of the room, stewing in anger over nothing in particular and occasionally piping up for some passive-aggressive snarking. He’s clever, but of average intellect. And he uses WAY too much body spray, like what's up with that? Why would anyone do that? It's better than smelling like a teenaged boy, maybe, but it's really distracting.
  
  
• Biography: Kaiser is the son of Mr. Wilhelm, the honors-level history teacher at the high school known for his “off” sense of humor, and Mrs. Wilhelm, a physics teacher with an iron spine and an icy stare. With both parents as teachers (and a weird pun-name that earned plenty of teasing back in the day), Kaiser grew to have a jaded grudge against school in general. He might have done very well in his classes if he bothered to do any of the work. Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm have given him every lecture, threat, and tutor they could come up with, but in the last couple of years, they seem to have given up on him.  His younger brother Pascal, kind-hearted and far better at academics, puts helpful notes with formulas or quirky science facts in Kaiser’s lunchbox every morning, which only annoys him more. Kaiser sees no reason to learn. He considers his spectral abilities to be some kind of super-power, and super powers are definitely worth more of his time than math or English.
  
  He’s not exactly sure when he became a spectral. It certainly doesn’t run in his family, and though other spectrals around the town -- they’re easy to find and meet when they trail colored gas -- have mentioned other methods such as supernatural experiences or being half citrus, he’s pretty sure he hasn’t had any of those. His current theory is that he licked just one too many batteries in his life.
  
  He did have a tool at one point in time, a few years ago, for all of ten seconds. It was a desk lamp in a department store that he was toying around with while his parents shopped. The spirit that dwelled in it, a friendly little thing that looked like some kind of hybrid between a giraffe and a loaf of bread, decided to contact him immediately to tell him all about how tools work. The flood of information and the invasion of personal head space caused Kaiser to freak out and drop the lamp, which broke, and the spirit left to find a different home.
  
  Kaiser can often be found in detention, in the principal’s office, locked in his own room, or skipping any of those three to loiter around abandoned areas and practice his spec-shot.

  Kat has burgundy red hair pulled into a side ponytail – messily dyed and messily styled. Her skin is a dark honey tone, and she has plain boring brown eyes. She’s rather short at five-foot-nothing and is fairly muscular, mostly due to training/hard labor spent in her garden. She’s pretty flat in the bust, for which she is incredibly thankful – she has no idea how other girls her age manage to move around at all with the stuff they’ve got going on in the chest.

  Kat’s been stubborn as long as anyone can remember. When asked about herself it’s the only personality trait she’ll mention, although her older brother Silas would like to add “hotheaded,” and “rebellious” to the list. She loves her adopted brother dearly, and her favorite way to show that love is to pick fights and tease him mercilessly.  
  
  Kat is pretty quiet in school – not because she’s shy, but because she knows if she opens her mouth all that’s going to come out is snark. She’s much more free with her emotions (and insults) outside of school, and is honestly pretty loud and obnoxious. Despite her in your face attitude Kat’s favorite pastime is spending time alone in her garden, and she gets easily irritated if that alone time is breeched.

  Kat grew up in and out of foster homes all her life. She knows she was lucky in that she didn’t have a particularly unpleasant childhood and she never had any foster parents that were outright horrible, but nothing in her life at that point was particularly good or fun either. That is, until she ran away from another stifling home when she was nine and got hit by a car.
  
  When Kat woke in the hospital, she could see spirits all around her. To this day she’s not certain if her emergence as a Spectral was due to the near death experience or because the car that hit her was, at the time, a tool. When the driver of the car – Silas Lowry – learned that he’d inadvertently awakened another Spectral by nearly killing a child, he arranged to adopt Kat and teach her himself.
  
  Kat was moved from town to town and homeschooled until she was 15, painstakingly catching up to her agemates while also learning of Spectral matters. When she’d learned all she could from Silas he gifted her with a tool he’d come across during his travels that he thought would suit her, seeing as it was a gardening implement. At that point forward Kat was in charge of her own training, bonding with Cattail and learning to control her new abilities. Afterwards Kat and Silas moved to Stonehaven so her reintroduction to public school could be a “fresh start” in a Spectral-friendly town. She knows her brother hopes they can settle down here among other Spectrals, but Kat’s pretty sure that’s not going to last. They’ve spent so long avoiding Spirits and Spectrals alike that the idea of openly socializing with these people is weird to both of them.

  Cattail’s personality is constantly shifting with the seasons. When Kat and Cat first met in the winter, Cat was incredibly lazy and ridiculously fond of naps. Come spring she was playful and energetic, and she was forceful and aggressive in the summer. •Personality: Due to his long hair people normally just label him as any other emo. However, on the Inside he is not. He just didnt bother to cut his hair. He is also somewhat of a downer, not really talking to anybody in school. However once you get to know him more he can be quite talketive.

Physical Description: Marty is a dark-skinned girl with somewhat almond-shaped green eyes [just a little bit] and black/brown hair that she has dyed a bright orange. Her usual attire consists of fairly comfortable garb, sometimes with a green hoodie overtop, and would prefer to go barefoot everywhere if not for icky gum on school floors, so she wears sandals in school.

Personality: Marty is fairly reserved, preferring to stick to her "GameBud" to socializing. With Zaptrap, however, she is starting to become more socially active. She prefers working on the sidelines to being in the center of attention, although she will enjoy some praise every once in a while. She has fairly little interest in love, but the platonic bonds she forms are strong as soulmates'. So she's easily hurt if a friend lashes out at her or doesn't consider her as important as others.
Marty is a tricky one, as well. If you have a computer, KEEP IT HIDDEN.

Biography: Marty's mother met her father in France. Her father was on a trip there from the US and her mother lived there. They got married, had a child, and eventually moved to the US, settling in a quaint little town called "Mayview". As the child, Marty, grew up, she had a fairly normal life [as normal as Mayview gets] until she traveled out of town with her parents to the zoo. Shortly after returning, Marty started going through the shade phase, eventually learning from another spectral that she had become a medium. She soon came in contact with the spirit she was hosting,
Quetunari, and dubbed him Zaptrap for easier pronunciation. Zaptrap would show her the ropes of how to use his powers, and this child is an unstoppable beast. Well, not really, but she can be a tricky little sneak. She is in the 6th grade at Mayview Middle School, and only knows somewhat about the Activity Club.

Occupation: Student, Harasser of the Robotics Club's creations

Miscellaneous Talents: Gaming, messing with robots.

Extra details: She doesn't know a super-duper bunch about being a spectral, but she's getting there.

Specialization: Marty is able to mess with electronics and any form of technology. She can also shoot a little bit of lightning, but it's easier to just make herself electrified totally.

Description: Zaptrap is literally a floating TV-type screen with weird arms. Hard to describe it perfectly, but I have some doodles on my art page here that may help. Prefers He/His pronouns.

Personality: He works as Marty's guide through both spectral and social life. Zaptrap is fairly calm and patient with his host, although he can easily get frustrated with other people [he tries not to let Marty see it when they talk, though]. Of course, when he gets mad mad, he can take control of Marty for short periods of time, which he does usually to protect her or others.

Abilities: Zaptrap can manipulate technology and any such thing. He can shoot electricity as well. Both these traits are available to Marty. Also, he can possess his host for a few minutes at a time.

Spectral Energy Color: Grayish-Blueish

Extra Details: He's a TV with arms. What else is there?

Personality: Prefers to watch from the sidelines but is perfectly capable of interfering when necessary. Good at keeping secrets, though she doesn't consider herself to have many. She’s a bit suspicious of nearly everyone she meets. She is also a geek and loves fictional settings.
Biography: Moved here three years ago with her adoptive parents, whom she has been with since the age of six. She doesn’t know much about her birth parents but assumes they are dead. Since arriving in this town, she has noticed many strange things including moving objects, odd sounds, and suspicious people.
