| So, I'm trying to put together a sort of "ice-cold winter queen" costume for Halloween. Y'know, cold, cruel, and merciless (and definitely NOT Elsa!).
Only problem is, I don't have any suitable white/pale blue clothes.
So, I'm going to try to be creative and be unconventional, with a navy blue velvet dress as the base I'm working from. What I want to know is how to make it seem like a snowy dress, instead of just a dark dress. I was thinking of maybe adding some fake snow to the hems and dotting it with little "snowflakes," but I really like this dress and it's very versatile, so I want this all to be temporary stuff that I can easily remove later (or at least remove without destroying the thing.)
Any suggestions? |

| Well, I dont know anything about cosplay or sewing, but I got an idea about the snowflakes. At least, I did until I reread it and realize that I have no idea what you meant by "adding 'snowflakes'", so you might have something different in mind.
I was thinking that a way to have temporary snowflakes (if you have like snowflakes made out of cloth or something) is to just sew a little bit of it to the dress in a way where it won't fall off or tear easily. And when you're done with it, you can just cut the thread that holds it onto the dress and it can be easily removed. Idk though, I might not know what I'm talking about, but I at least hopes this creates some ideas for you. |

| Well, I didn't end up making an ice queen costume. Instead, I went as a dead thing. (Ghoul, ghost, spectre, whatever, I was undead.)
A friend of mine is really good with special effects makeup, even with the cheapest materials she can get her hands on, so what I did was I dressed in all black in a black dress that stops at the knees and hugs the form, black tights with a sparkly silver pattern on them, a silver necklace, and some really nice black boots (borrowed my mom's "hooker hobblers," as they were dubbed by me and my friends), then I pinned my hair back and slicked it with water a little bit (since I have a widow's peak, it makes me look more intimidating/spooky/whatever) and my mom applied some white and black makeup to my face so I looked dead.
(...That's one sentence. HOW.)
Then my friend gave me a very bloody-looking neck wound so it looked like I had had my throat slashed. It was really cool! I kinda wish I had a picture I could show you... |

| I impressed people, at the very least, and startled a few more (cause I was deliberately standing right behind them when they turned around). :3 |
