| Does anybody hit up any good nerd-cons?
I live in SC, so I'm pretty restricted to stuff down here without involving plane tickets and stuff getting really expensive. That said, I've been to several cons in my time.
San Diego Comic Con back in 2008, that was a rush.
In 2011 I went to my very first Dragon*Con, located in Atlanta Georgia. Went with roughly 6 or 7 friends. It's probably the most fun I have, each year. Seriously mindblowing.
I went to Katsucon this last year. It was nice, but the nonstop party of Dragon*Con is far more my speed. |

| It's phenomenal. My group and I managed to get a host hotel this time. God I'm so excited. |

| I went with my girlfriend who lives in Atlanta so we didn't need to get a hotel which saved us a lot of moola. |

| Oh man, that's pretty fantastic. I'd love a setup like that. However, I'm very excited to stay in the host hotel. Waking up inside the con? Fantastic. |

| I bet! Almost wherever you went was extremely crowded and those panel rooms were almost always filled to capacity but its still tons of fun and I'm gonna be going this year again! |

| I live in Nebraska and I hit up a lot of the Midwest cons, including Chicago Comicon.
Last one I went to was Nakacon in Overland Park, Kansas. Others I go to: Nebraskon, Nerdtron, Otakon (Canada), Anime Iowa, and more.

| I live in Nebraska as well, but am fairly poor (teacher's salary and all...) so I only hit Nebraskon and Nakakon. |

| Went to Las Vegas Comic Con in I think 2014. Dressed as a waterbender. Had a conversation with the actual Seventh Doctor. it was fun. |

| I've only ever been to one convention, I think it was called Fanime Con. I went dressed as Edward Elric, and a bunch of people asked to take my picture. I bought an adorable log-like cat plush, which has been dubbed "Loafcat" |

| That seems awful.
Cool that you're going to another con. Hope you have fun! And that you don't get molested |

| Went to FACTS twice (Fantasy & sci-fi convention in Belgium), bought a plushy germ first time and a double sword thing the second time. Didn't cosplay though... Was planning on maybe going as a scientist pokemon trainer third time around but kinda didn't want to go anymore because I really dislike crowds >_>
Have been going to mineral conventions a lot though. There's one every year that I have been going to for years and since last year discovered two more so now going to mineral conventions 3 times a year. they're less crowded and I just really like crystals ;_;
My username is a crystal I bought there once and it is my favourite crystal... |

| Nice! I like crystals too, though if you really get down to the sciency bits of it, I prefer biology and chemistry. I know that you can grow crystals through chemistry, but there's lots of other fun stuff you can do too! It is pretty cool how something like crystals can grow naturally, though. |

| (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ fellow science person!
I studied Chemistry in high school (I think, not sure how the US school system compares to the Belgian one) and then after that, Biochemistry in University...
I'm not really that into geology actually, though I did have an interest in the Chemistry bit of crystals for a while. I just like crystals because they're shiny and sparkly >_> |

Nope! A friend of mine lives there, though, so I vacationed at their place and we went together a few times. |

| Ah, I see. Personally I only have friends who live in the vicinity of me. I DO have family who live in Sweden, but plane tickets are expensive and I'd rather not spend thousands of dollars just to go to a convention. I wouldn't even be going with my family since they (don't seem to be) nerdy people like that. So I've only ever gone to the one, since it was nearby.
I do indeed like science, which is a part of the reason why I like the comic "Girl Genius" so much. It has funny jokes, mad science, steampunk stuff, all the great things! Except, well, not all of them. But many of them! I suggest reading it! |

| Are you studying science then? Biology? Chemisty? Biochemistry?
I know Girl Genius, I've read it to the last update a few years ago and then put it in my bookmarks to read again someday... I don't know what it is about how the artist of that comic draws faces, but it's kinda off-putting... |

| Ah, no, not yet. I'm still in high school, but when I get to college I'll probably go for something like that, or maybe Engineering. Not entirely sure yet, to be honest.
Ah, I see. That's a shame. |
