| Also known as National Novel Writing Month, I know I've seen at least ONE other person on this forum who does this challenge, so I figured "hey, why not make a topic for it so people can moan to each other and/or ask for noveling help or ideas or whatever."
For those of you who don't know what this is, NaNoWriMo is where, in the month of November, you write every day for 30 days to reach a specific word goal target. In other words, you write a novel in a month. It doesn't even have to be good! You just sit down, open your noveling whatever (notebook, document, etc.) shut up that voice that goes "Omg no don't write that, that sucks, go back and do it all over!" and just write. You can plan it out ahead of time or you can just sit and write with no goal in mind, but once Nov.1 hits, you sit and write. Here is the link to the adult's website, and here is the link to the "Young Writer's Program" (for those who are under 18), though they recently revamped their ywp website so it's in "Beta." |

| I've done some Nanos before, and didn't really do that well, but I didn't know what I really wanted to do back then (or now even).
So what are you gonna write for your Nano? I don't think I'll be participating cause of computer troubles driving me mad. |

| (That's a shame about your computer troubles.)
I'll be doing something a little different from my usual NaNo-ing style this year. What I usually do is plan something out beforehand, in terms of important plot events and information, and I'll usually have some idea for character names, personalities, appearances, etc. before I begin, but this year I'm going in almost completely blind. my characters are, quite literally, named "A" "B" "X" "Y" and "Z."
I always write fantasy stories, though, since those are my favorites (and also the easiest since I don't need to come up with believable ways for sci-fi tech to work or research anything for non-fiction or historical fiction or whatever). |

| That's cool. Sometimes it's best to switch things up a bit.
It's the middle of the month now, so how's your nano doing? |

| Here's some motivation: If you don't add at least 2000 more words to it before the month rolls over, I win the Last Person Posting thread. |

| Okay, so the young writer's program site (currently revamped and in beta) has this thing where you can do a "word sprint." You choose how long you have and how many words you aim to write and then you start the timer and write until you reach the target or time runs out. (You can write the novel directly in the site now, btw.) By doing two 10-min and one 5-min word sprint with targets of 500, 400, and 100 words respectively, I managed to boost myself from 24% finished to 38% finished, even though I didn't reach the first two and only got like twice as much for the second one. Yay! Still not enough though. I refuse to let myself go to bed before I have written at least half of the words I require! 50%, here I come!
(P.S. I chopped off 10,000 words from my word-count goal, since it'd be practically impossible to raise 1,000 words to 17,000 in less than two days, what with schoolwork and such that needs doing, so i have a goal set for 7,000 now.) [P.P.S. I have more than 2000 words down! Hah! I defeated your measly challenge, turned it into sausages, and ate it!] |

| HaHAH! I've conquered NaNoWriMo once more!
I'm super impressed with myself for managing to write 6000 words in two. Days. I've usually only given myself goals that had me write like 200-300 words a day before. I'm not saying I'll have myself write 3000 words a day for my next WriMo, oh no, that would give me, like, zero room to recover if I fall behind for a day or two, but I think I'll try shooting for something along the lines of 20.000 or 30.000 instead of something like 16.000 or 17.000 next time. |

| I don't know, maybe it would make more semse to not go as overboard since you were almost not gonna make it. ; w; Maybe just doulbe what you got done this time and go for 14000 next time, that is if you'll go for a blind nano again. |

| Oh no, I'm definitely NOT going for a blind NaNo. (EDIT: again, I mean.) And the only reason I didn't make it was because I was abnormally unmotivated about it this year. usually I write at least a couple of times every week, so I think I'd be fine.
