| Apologies if i've put this in the wrong subforum, but I couldn't find a thread specifically for translating the languages in the comic so I decided to make one???
The language that Forge and The Doorman speak is called High Spirit, and is translated by turning the text sideways and filling in the gaps.
The language the maybe-dog-maybe-cat monsters speak is called Cursed Words, and the method of translation is wonderfully, needlessly complicated.
That said, the cursed words on the (as of writing) latest page can be translated as so:
chapter 4 Page 61 Word 8 "I"
chapter 4 Page 60 Word 15 "WIN"
So yeah, they're pretty much just yelling "I WIN" really dramatically.
I guess this thread can just hang around until the next time it's needed now. |

| I find it interesting how the languages in Paranatural are decipherable through their appearance on the page. It's like the universe itself is giving a metaphysical nod to the readers, and I've never seen it done this way before. Very, very clever. |

| To be honest, I'm still wondering what Spender was saying to Isaac, when he blacked out those words in chapter 3. |

| I was bored so decided to try and translate what the cursed words in the first panel of chapter 4 page 148 said using the information on it on the Wiki...
I keep coming up with "The sunglasses door certainly destroyed him". I know the "door" is supposed to be "spectral" and if the skull pointed to the page before it would've been that but it doesn't so it isn't? I don't really know what I'm doing wrong but "the sunglasses door" is kinda hilarious so I thought I'd share >_>
Also, since the link to the cursed words translation method in the first post leads to a tumblr that doesn't exist anymore, here's the method:
Each pair of skulls represent a single word from the comic's own archives: - The number of white dots in the eyes represent the chapter number. - The horns and teeth on the first skull represent the page number. The horns are the first digit and should be read as Roman numerals; a short horn is an I, which is 1, a long horn is a V, which is 5. (If the skull has two different horns and the short horn is on the left, that would make it IV, which is a 4.) The teeth are the second digit, and just need to be counted. - The horns and teeth on the second skull are the word number. Same process as the first. |

| That's awesome. Hmm, it might be neat to have a stickied thread that contains all of Paranatural's translated dialogue. |

| There's the paranatural field guide thread, which is stickied. Could just add it to that... Edit: >_> |
