| Yeah, I just couldn't enjoy it really Below are the reasons why but its spoilered for a reason, dont read it if you havent seen it yet, usually when people read to many reviews it taints their opinion so do yourself a favor and go in blind - Spoiler:
Rey was the biggest Mary Sue I'd ever seen in a movie
Finn was the least likeable character in the whole movie. I guess to make Rey look better they had him need her help which plays a switch on the traditional guy saves girl thing, and I thought that was cool, but finn never really stopped being shit on.
The whole movie pretty much goes, guy cant do something, Rey does it again and again. Han cant fix his ship that he has experience fixing, Rey does it with little effort, Finn (tecognized as one of the best stormtroopers, with high likelyhood of becoming an officer in the future) struggles to take down one guy while rey has alreasy taken down two, Finn, who has combat training gets his ass whooped by a wounded Sith lord with force training, Rey then gets up after being force slammed into a tree, with no training other than what she knows with a staff which isnt really similar to a lightsaber at all, simply manages to overpower Kylo Ren's force abilities with her own , A TRAINED SITH, and she over powers him on her first attempt to pull annything, and then defeats him in a lightsaber duel, hile overpowering him in a grappling match, and previously overpowered his mind seriously, this film went to stupid lengths to make Rey look good, in order for a character to look good when they succeed, the character has to struggle, at least once in a while, Rey, doesnt REALLY struggle all that much, I mean yeah theres the whole "i gotta wait for my family to come back and lost memories", but that wasnt even focused on enough in this movie to be relevant.
I mean fin is a character who is supposed to be top of his class, like this guy was supposed to be the rambo of storm troopers, and yet, he just continually gets shit on, especially when he's next to Rey.
and at first I thought it was gonna be like sokka where he grows as a character, but no, he just continually gets shit on throughout the whole movie.
Meanwhile, Rey can simply take out a trained user of the force, AND grapple with him, to the point of overpowering him merely because he was wounded in his side? (a laser blast would cauterize the wound so why the hell was he bleeding?)Rey wields the force and knows how to do things with it, on like the third try simply because she can?Even Anakin needed training so what the hell is up with that? Why does Rey simply trump every obsticle she comes across, I wanted a strong female character, but what I got was a crummy mary sue.
The story itself seemed confused, like someone leaving there house to go to the store, but they keep turning around because they forgot things.
Gotta bring this droid to the resistance, finns a bitch so he wants to run away, gotta take the lightsaber and fight to get Rey back, gotta destroy this death star thing, gotta bring kylo back to the side of good, gotta go find luke again. And all these other dumb little mini plots to the point where I got tired of it all, they tried to shove way to much into just one movie, it looked nice, but most of the characters, and most of the story made me wonder why I should care.

| Well that's a shame, and also a bit of a surprise for me. A friend of mine is a Star Wars enthusiast, and they gave the newest movie a 10/10, and this seems to be quite the opposite opinion. You have valid points, though. If you expected a great movie, then I am sorry for your disappointment. If not, then it's just a shame that it wasn't that good. I hope the next movie you see will be more enjoyable! |
