TIME FOR A REALLY OUT-OF-LEFT-FIELD THEORY WOOOOOOOOOOO

The whole "pirate face" avatar fad notwithstanding, I've noticed that there's a recurring motif of showing Isaac with an eye obscured - his introduction in Chapter 1 had a lot of shots of him with one eye behind something (either a wall or a locker door), Chapter 3 has him with one eye behind a bandage, and the Parapocalypse wallpaper features him with an actual eyepatch.

So yeah. The one-eye thing regarding Isaac could mean Zack might be toying with actually taking out one of his eyes for good. And well, it's not like their line of work is safe or anything, injuries like that aren't uncalled for on the setting.

...I told you this theory would be pretty out-of-left-field.

I LIKE IT! Pirate!Issac would be one step closer to being canon!

He'll get a trading card deck as a tool. He'll lose one eye and cover the socket with his hair. He'll start calling his attacks. He'll get a golden-haired transformation and will be able to call upon his spirit as a Stand.

Max won't be able to cope with it and beg Scrap to just bite his head off already.

Maybe he'll lose control of a bolt of lightning and it'll blow up in his face? (literally hue hue hue  )

What if one of the spirits were to affect one of his eyes after the first one got damaged.

Then he'd aquire sharingan in that eye and officially be the most anime character ever

While a fun theory, and indicative of just the sort of foreshadowing that marks the really great stories, I kinda doubt this theory just because of Paranatural's generally light-hearted themes. The comic just puts too much focus on gags and happiness to deal with that sort of event in a way that is both suitable for the comic and actually appropriate for the circumstances. I trust Zack not to fall for that trap.

So unless we wind up with a really intense case of Cerebus Syndrome, I just can't see this happening.

I kinda agree with this theory, actually, or at least will say it has some weight. That kind of symbolism is something that authors really like to pack in. It makes me think a bit of how Finn always loses his arm in alternate realities in Adventure Time.

It may not fully come to a head, but it is there for a reason and it will probably lead to something, even if it's not him losing his actual eye.

Maybe Boss Leader will come and patch his eye up to give him a new and improved magic eyeball!!

Now I'll be real: This theory REALLY interested me. Isaac is my favorite character (my precious child I love) and I was truly invested in this idea. How invested, you asked?
enough so that i went through the whole comic looking for instances of said eye-obscurity haha whoops
Based off of my findings, I listed every instance in which his eye was INTENTIONALLY (or it looked intentional, for example his eye hiding behind a locker vs. a profile shot of him) covered and which eye it was. My findings were as follows:
Chapter 1 - Left-Right-Left-Left
Chapter 3 - Left-Right-Left-Right-Right-Right-Right-Right-Right-Right-Right-Right-Right (Many of the rights were from where Isabel covered his right eye with paper)
Chapter 4 – Left-Right

If Zack was intending to de-eye Isaac at some point, I feel as though the continuity of WHICH eye it would be would be a bit more consistent than such, since it seemed to change with every scene it was introduced. With the exception of the one seen with Isabel's paper shenanigans, notice how it constantly shifts to left-right-left-right.

Not to say this DISPROVES the theory. Isaac has definitely had many more one-eye-obscured moments than the rest of our cast, and with the Wallpaper showing the eye-patch, it's not the most unbelievable theory. Plus, again, I'm super interested in seeing where this theory goes, which is why I just spent 2 hours combing through the comic for Isaac moments and created an account on here just to post my findings.

I'm not totally into this theory, myself.  I agree with Javelox that if it were going to happen (and we're almost two years past when the theory was first introduced) it likely would have been the same eye over and over.  Furthermore, I feel like this is another case of "that's just Zack's drawing style" rearing it's head.  I know from Twitter that Morrison has really, really worked hard to pack Paranatural with plotlines and twists galore, so--I think this is something he would do, but I don't think it's something currently happening.

Hah, the pun thread started early I see!

The theory might be 2 years old but in the comic itself it's only been 2 or 3 days... Though I guess losing an eye could have happened during the Ghost Train arc...
Also, like others have said in the thread, it might not necessarily be losing an eye. Could be that one of his eyes starts looking weird because he's a medium and he just starts wearing an eyepatch to cover it up. And maybe it switches eyes? >_>

It does seem significant that Isaac specifically is often shown with one eye obscured, though I suppose it could just be because of him sneaking around a lot...

Edit: Speaking of Isaacs eyes maybe changing due to him being a medium... Is it just me or do his pupils get suspiciously vertical when he's angry (like on chapter 5 page 10 and page 25). Though I don't really see how that would be a manifestation of his mediumness, since his spirit doesn't have eyes like that... Could just be an artistic thing...

More foreshadowing???????
