| This is the simplest level of modern fantasy you can imagine - a world exactly as our own is now, but with magic. All the supernatural beings you can imagine actually exist, and a lot of them blend in with society just fine. Most people go their entire lives not realising that magic is real, despite being close to many non-humans throughout their time.
There are other planes, parallel to ours, from which magic has soaked through the fabric of reality into our own. One 'up', one 'down', to save anyone from being insulted at the suggestion that their home is 'good' or 'bad'. Just because one plane is mostly populated by the fae, and another mostly by demons, doesn't make one better than the other.
More specifically, the majority of this RP will concern a single city, one with an unusually high proportion of non-human and magical beings. Some say there's something drawing those with the talent here, others say that people move there because they know there'll be more people like them there. Regardless, it's notable for that. The city is in England, because that's what I'm familiar with, but it doesn't correlate to any specific city. It's like any city: there's everything you could possibly want, if you know where to look.
As for plot, I have a few options, but I'd like everyone to get comfortable with their characters first, so in true rpg style, we'll begin at an inn. So to speak - it's open mic night at Headless Jenny, a pub run by a dullahan and a banshee that is tailored to suit the magical population of the city. It's an ordinary pub, of course, so everyone does their best to pretend to be human since plenty of ordinary people do visit Jenny's, after all.
You can play as almost anything, provided your character can pass for 'normal' most days of the week one way or another, whether through physical or magical disguise. And keep in mind that the setting is modern-day, I've had people just see the word fantasy and then want to play a princess running away from a castle to become a knight, hahahah. But yeah, characters can live in the city or be from out of town, they can have whatever job you prefer to give them, they can be whatever species you prefer.
Personally I'd like to keep things relatively believable, but don't worry too hard about it - this is fantasy, after all.
We'll be roleplaying in narrative form, a few paragraphs per post, taking turns in a predetermined order.
Oh, one more thing - the setting, most particularly the pub, is mine, and I'd really appreciate it if no one else used it for other things. thanks uvu
Here's a form to fill in about your characters. You don't have to have a picture along with your completed form, but if you have one, please do! If you want to use someone else's art or photo, please be sure to link us all to the source!
Name: (What is your character called?) Nickname(s): (Do they have something else they prefer to go by?) Gender: (Female, male, both, neither... whatever, just put something.) Species: (Anything you like! Can be a supernatural/mythical creature, or just human. I'll also accept original species, but please give a decent amount of information on them if it's just something you've made up!) Build: (How tall or short are they? How fat or thin? No need to break it down into numbers, but give a good idea of how they'll look next to most people) Age: (Actual age only if known, but characters should preferably be older than sixteen. Please provide the age they appear physically, as well.) Speciality: (Do they have anything they're especially good at? This can be anything from making coffee to being charming to performing exorcisms.) Likes: (What do they like? Love? Not-quite-despise-as-much-as-everything-else?) Dislikes: (What do they dislike? Hate? Are slightly annoyed by?) Powers: (This is optional! They don't have to have any supernatural powers!) Weaknesses: (This one isn't optional, and if your character has lots of power but not many weaknesses, it will be a lot harder for them to be accepted!) Personality: (Tell us a little about them!) History: (Must include where they currently reside within the city! I don't mind if it's a creepy old mansion, or a central apartment, or, wherever. Hell, they can be homeless if you want.) Other: (Anything else you want to add about them?)
Please post your completed forms in the OOC thread, not this one! That way we can keep things tidy if I need to ask anyone to change things c: |

| Zeke tapped the side of his half-empty pint with a finger. The motion was unconscious, but the steady, stiff repetition was a direct reflection of his emotions towards what he was looking at. Which is to say, a small makeshift stage, not five feet from the table at which he was sat, upon which was a microphone and a bar stool. He'd agreed to meet a potential employer at Headless Jenny's in less than 15 minutes time, and they were setting up open mic night. Something in his temples twitched, and Zeke let his head sink into his hands. It was too late to contact the client and change the meeting place now, after all, and surely it wouldn't be that bad to listen to some amateur poetry and music? He let himself have a little chuckle at that one. This was going to be terrible and he knew it. He drained his glass, and sighed deeply. Regardless, he was going to have to do his best to enjoy, or at least ignore this, and since he was, hopefully, about to get a job, he could probably afford another couple of drinks. And if he wanted to keep his table, he needed to do it now, before people started flooding in for the music. Keeping an eye on his chair, Zeke made his way over to the bar, greeting the one barmaid who remained pouring drinks while everyone else set up the stage and sound system. Imogen also co-owned the place, but she and her partner preferred a hands-on approach to managing a pub - and so far it seemed to be working out pretty well for them. She turned blank eyes on him, winked and nodded before pulling him a second pint, silent as ever. Not that Zeke ever wanted to hear Imogen raise her voice. He thanked her, paid, and turned back to sit at his table. Immediately, his face fell - the table was, of course, taken by someone else already. Not his day, really. He ground his teeth. - ooc wrote:
- Ok, so here we go, I guess! I'm gonna put a poll up later with options regarding the job Zeke (and at least some of your characters) is getting, because I think it's more fun that way.
In case it isn't obvious, your characters should probably be in or arriving at Headless Jenny's in your introduction post - and if all goes to plan (though it might not and thats fine) our characters will all get a job to do together. I'm assuming at this point that the client will have contacted each of them, but if you feel that isn't right for your character than obviously that's absolutely fine, use whatever reason you prefer to get your character here.
Here's hoping this is fun and goes well c: |

| Loraine sits in a back corner of the bar, looking over notes for a non magical case where the husband appeared to be cheating on his wife. From all the pictures of him going into seedy bars and walking out with women on each arm it certainly seemed that way. She sighed and closed the file. Another man cheating on his wife, to whom he swore to love 'till death do part was spending exhorbetant amounts of money on prostitutes while his family was struggling. She took a sip of water before looking around. She had an excellent view of the door in which to keep an eye on people who came in. I hope none of them have any emotional issues. she mutters to herself. |

| Aden walks into the pub, checking a note from the guy who offered him a job to make sure he's at the right place. If this turns out to be some sort of mafia nonsense, he's leaving. He takes the first available seat he comes across. |
