| Here's the character form! c:
Name: (What is your character called?) Nickname(s): (Do they have something else they prefer to go by?) Gender: (Female, male, both, neither... whatever, just put something.) Species: (Anything you like! Can be a supernatural/mythical creature, or just human. I'll also accept original species, but please give a decent amount of information on them if it's just something you've made up!) Build: (How tall or short are they? How fat or thin? No need to break it down into numbers, but give a good idea of how they'll look next to most people) Age: (Actual age only if known, but characters should preferably be older than sixteen. Please provide the age they appear physically, as well.) Speciality: (Do they have anything they're especially good at? This can be anything from making coffee to being charming to performing exorcisms.) Likes: (What do they like? Love? Not-quite-despise-as-much-as-everything-else?) Dislikes: (What do they dislike? Hate? Are slightly annoyed by?) Powers: (This is optional! They don't have to have any supernatural powers!) Weaknesses: (This one isn't optional, and if your character has lots of power but not many weaknesses, it will be a lot harder for them to be accepted!) Personality: (Tell us a little about them!) History: (Must include where they currently reside within the city! I don't mind if it's a creepy old mansion, or a central apartment, or, wherever. Hell, they can be homeless if you want.) Other: (Anything else you want to add about them?) |

| Can I pm my character to you? I want it to be a surprise for the rest of the cast, but if you feel that's unfair for any reason I will gladly just post it here. |

| That's fine, yeah c: Once I've gone through it and we're both satisfied, I'll specify which bits are absolutely necessary, and if it's ok with you you should post that, but I'm totally happy to keep your character as secret as you'd like.
Same goes for anyone else - if you'd rather I go through your app privately instead of on this thread, just PM me it c:

| Name: Ezekiel Jordan Nickname(s): Zeke. His grandma calls him Zekie but no one else can get away with it Gender: Male Species: His mother is human but his father is a monster – similar to a demon but originating from earth, Zeke’s dad was born from the human fear of the dark. Zeke tends to think of himself as a ‘human with extras’. The extras are an elongated lifespan and increased general toughness, a bit of magic, and slightly pointier teeth than most people. Build: Slightly shorter than average and erring on uncomfortably skinny at first glance, Zeke is mostly wiry muscle, though he could definitely stand to gain some weight Appearance: Pale complexion, almost greyish; Zeke pretty much constantly looks ill. His eyes are large and dark and he always has bags under them, and his hair is a messy black scruff that probably needs a cut. He's got long-fingered, clever hands, and while he seems to have a permanently grumpy expression, his smile is wide and bright and toothy. He still gets mistaken for being in his late teens, despite being a proper adult now. Age: 26 Speciality: Zeke is surprisingly good at making coffee, mainly because it is his lifeblood, so he has a part-time job as a barista at a coffee shop. He’s also an odd-jobs man of sorts – he runs errands and does unpleasant tasks for people, usually the magical part of the population. He does his best to be approachable and open, so people tend to trust him quite quickly, which helps with extracting information – and if just talking doesn’t work, he has a bunch of less pleasant and far less legal methods. His other talent is hitting things. Likes: Zeke is a very simple young man. He likes pizza and videogames and movies, and he claims to like ‘the quiet life’. Too long living a ‘quiet’ life, however, and it becomes apparent that he craves excitement: with nothing to do, he gets all fidgety and reckless, and can wind up behaving in dangerous ways. In short, he likes stuff that might get him in trouble, whether he admits it or not. Dislikes: He actually can’t stand a lot of food. This is because his tongue is a little more sensitive than most, and a lot of textures just make him gag. When he eats pizza, he has margarita and nothing else, maybe stuffed crust if it’s plain cheese in there. He hates most pastries and cakes, though he’ll eat desserts like ice cream and chocolate tortes (chocolate is his Achilles heel), and almost every vegetable or meat is pretty gross to him. People call him picky, and they’re probably right but he literally can’t put some things in his mouth. Luckily his monstrous heritage means he’s not too horribly malnourished. He loves tofu and cheese, so that’s protein, and he takes a bunch of vitamin tablets every day. (This is turning into talking about Zeke and food, not Zeke and dislikes. Hm.) Dislikes: Zeke really dislikes children, but only to the point that he has to grit his teeth if he’s interacting with one. He absolutely hates hot weather, to the point that most summers he winds up locking himself in his apartment with the air con blasting a frigid breeze over his naked body at some point, because he just can’t deal with it. Or he could just enchant his clothes to keep him cool, but that generally takes a while for him to remember to do. Powers: Basic magical ability. His specialty is enchanting objects via symbols, from the staffs that he makes out of everyday items such as broom handles or baseball bats, to the soles of his shoes. He makes a bit of extra money making good luck charms a lot of the time. If he draws on a lot of his energy, he can pull the cold darkness of his father around him and start to become it, but it’s not usually pleasant for anyone. Especially Zeke himself. Weaknesses: Without a focus to channel his magic, Zeke is useless and cannot use it. The more accurate to the original image, the easier it is for him to perform magic. His focus is his dad’s true face; he has a mask that looks like his father’s skull and as soon as he was old enough got a tattoo of it on his back. The tattoo, being 2D, is a lot less reliable than the mask, of course, especially since it lives under Zeke’s clothes, but it’s easier than having to explain why you’re wearing a frightening animal skull mask around town. In a pinch, he can draw his focus if he has something to draw with and on, but he’s not a very good artist. In addition to this, magic, particularly larger casts, drains Zeke’s energy like crazy, so he has to boost his blood sugar right afterwards, and usually downs a cup or two of coffee, too. Personality: Zeke’s a real sweetheart at his centre; he wants to be as good as he can possibly be and make as many people as possible happy. This is hampered by his often unpleasant temper and the fact that he doesn’t get very much sleep, which makes him irreversibly grumpy until he’s had at least one mug of coffee. Preferably more. He gets irritable and snappy as the caffeine wears off, until he gets another cup, and this repeats a few times each day. He gets very flustered very easily, and turns bright red whenever it happens, which is something he hates about himself – which only intensifies it when it happens. He’s usually ok around people he’s attracted to, until they start making a move on him, rather than the other way around. Then he’s scarlet to the tips of his ears. History: Zeke was raised by his grandma; his mother is still alive but wasn’t really able to look after a kid. She stayed around for maybe a year before running off with a guy. She sends him postcards and souvenirs all the time and never seems to stay in the same place for very long. Zeke doesn’t resent her for this, in fact he’s quite grateful, because his grandma is great and he can’t imagine anyone else raising him as well as she did. His father started visiting when Zeke was five, taking the form of a human to pop in once every two months for a weekend during which he would spoil Zeke and teach him new things, eventually moving to teaching him magic. He also paid for Zeke’s upbringing, though he was respectful of his grandma’s wishes to not just heap money upon them. She’d worked hard to get them where they were – though she was glad that Zeke had help with school fees and whatnot. When Zeke was 17 he ran into a bunch of trouble due to the whole magic thing and some bad stuff happened. He doesn’t blame himself or angst over it, but he’s well aware that he holds a lot of responsibility for what happened and the next year, when he was old enough, got himself a tattoo of an ouroboros surrounding the colours of his magic – indigo, blue and gold – to remind himself of his potentially self-destructive nature. It wasn’t long after that that he moved out. When he moved out, his plan was to start up a little business of sorting out supernatural problems. To his dismay, this didn’t really earn him enough money to live on, since without experience, it’s difficult to get clients, and without clients, it’s difficult to get experience. The café job is a temporary fix until enough people know about the skills he has to offer. At the moment, he lives in a very nice one-bedroom apartment, paid for by his dad, of course. Other: Zeke has made a hobby of watching cooking shows and then trying to make the things he’s seen made on TV. With varying results. For more pictures of Zeke, please go here!

| Name: Aden Avery Nickname: (no) Gender: Male Species: Minor fire demon. Build: A little shorter than average. Fairly thin. Wears a lot of clothes at all times so you can't tell. His skin is more like a rhino's than a humans, but you can't tell because usually you can't see it. Age: About 21, or the equivalent of about 21 for his species. Speciality: Getting people to give him money and/or valuable personal property, sometimes without knowing they're doing it. Likes: Aden likes to smoke, and he enjoys hot food and drink. Dislikes: Aden is easily annoyed by pretty much anything. He especially hates being cold. Hes none too fond of Ireland, either. Powers: Aden cannot be burnt, ever. He also has the ability to make fire do what he wants it to, to a severely limited extent, and to start small fires anywhere he wants. Weaknesses: Aden needs to be a lot warmer than most people, or he'll feel like he's freezing. Additionally, his powers are very weak, so he can't exactly do a lot with fire. Although he rarely needs to, since most things burn easily enough on their own. Also, he cant abide the usual set of things demons cant abide, so exorcisms, sanctified zoes, etc. are another weakness of his. Personality: Aden has a rough personality and is always annoyed by something. The human world is much colder than he likes, especially Britain. He likes to act like a tired old man, even though he's not really all that old. History: He came to the human for unspecified reasons as soon as he reached adulthood, and has been living here ever since. He has a cheap and drafty apartment that he always complains about. He's a thief, although he isn't an elf. Other: He tends to stand around out-of-doors, even though it's usually hotter inside. He wears a lot of layers of clothes, and smokes so much that all of them smell of it. It covers up his natural scent, at least. General appearance: His body is obscured by several shirts and a long coat, so its hard to guess at his size around. His face is cobered with multiple scarves, two of which usually have a cigarette stuck between them at about mouth level, and he wears a small pair of shades over his eyes, although those are mostly just for looks. He also has a hat with a wide brim. This leads to his face also being obscured. Additionally, his hands are covered with floves, and he wears boots over his feet. His legs are hidden by his coat. All those clothes are supposed to keep him warm, although he still complains frequently about a chill, as well as to hide his demon-ness, since his skin isnt normal for a human.

| Name: Loraine Fayle
Nickname: Lorry, by her little sister
Gender: Female
Species: Fairy.
Build: Average (human) height and weight.
Appearance: Loraine has bright red hair and freckles. She has green eyes which always look like they are shining (except when she's mad. Then they look like they are burning like the pits of hell). She usually wears a work shirt and blue jeans to work both at her detective office, but she wears black dress pants, white button up shirt and black apron to serve as a waitress at the restaurant owned by an elf, who lets her off when she has a case. She wears boots with slightly platformed soles, where she keeps a variety of (small) things to protect her self with including a small silver knife and a little vial of holy water. During the night, when its cold or investigation time, she wears a sorta trench coat, minus the huge pop up collar. She has two thy she alternates between, one a light beige for day time investigations and cold days, the other black so as to be a able to hide in shadows (after hiding her hair of course).
Age: 19 looking. Actually about fifty. Which is young for a fairy. (Fairies age slowly and live long, staying youthful for the majority of their lives. Wings grow in at about age 10 relative to human age.)
Speciality: Great at logical leaps, solves puzzles with ease. Works as a detective of sorts for the magical side of the world. Very good at acting. Pretty strong also, not very but strong enough to kick down a door (with the help of some magic). She knows some Krav Maga.
Likes: Enjoys reading. A LOT. Likes to laugh. Likes life with a bit of spice. Would love to have many friends, but only has a few close friends.
Dislikes: Like the rest of her kind, they have a natural aversion to iron. Not as bad as olden times, where iron would kill a fae, but they don't really like touching it. Spicy food.
Powers: Uses magic for manipulations of the elements, levitate things and other small things. She can also use various things with magical properties, like a wand made of birch to enhance her magic abilities. (If you want more specifics and such you could message me? Maybe?)Can tell when somebody is lying or telling the truth. Can shrink to smaller, typical fairy, size.
Weaknesses: Iron interferes a little with her magic abilities, depending on how much there is. If there is a lot, her magic goes haywire. Also any anti fairy wards will cause her physical harm unless she backs up. FAST. Also ticklish.
Personality: Happy demeanor but she suffers with minor depression, making her moody at times. She's a secret romantic, but denies it violently. Sometimes she gets really happy, and gets really hyper from being happy, sometimes putting people off because she seems wild, but she's really calm underneath. When working and or dealing with people she can detach her emotions, making her quite the cold fish. Merciless even, but fair. (As in one chance, and one chance only.) Sometimes can't snap out of it without the help of her sister, who always brings out the best in her. Loves making horrible puns just to laugh at peoples grimaces.
History: Loraine was raised as a human in the human world, unaware of magic or being a fairy until she turned 10 (as a human, which is about 18 for a fairy) when her wings grew in. Then her parents explained everything. She was immediately given magic tattoos to allow her wings to mold into her back so she could pass as a human more easily. Began a magical education at home while going to a human school. Graduated from a pretty good college, with a degree in forensic science and mythology (idk if that really exsists) and a PHD in phycology. She works as a detective for the magic world part time. She works at a restaurant when she doesn't have a case (owned by an elf). Can't fly much because of living in a city with normal humans. She raised her baby sister after her parents were killed in a car accident. (Got run over ). Her sister has not yet grown in her wings, and Loraine is wondering what to tell her when they do grow in. They love together in a nice sized flat that they got from their parents. Not well off, but earns enough to get by. All her other relatives live in the forests far away from the city. Taking classes from a witch about spells and potions and other such things. Doesn't have too many human friends because she knows if she makes really close ties then it will hurt a lot when they die. She has some supernatural friends though.
Other: Tries to play the video games that her sister wants her to play but fails miserably. Does well at brawl though. A Lot of freckles. Her sister's name is Agatha, or batter known as Aggie.

| Name: Oliver Pondrell
Nickname: Olive
Gender: Male
Species: Shapeshifter. According to my personal idea of shapeshifter lore, all shapeshifters are born with a half human form, the other half representing something about who they will become in their later years. Oliver is an octopus from the waist down when in his default form, although he has nine tentacles instead of eight. He has yet to figure out what this is supposed to represent about him. All the details of the shapeshifting power itself are in the weaknesses section, though they're more like limitations then weaknesses.
Build: Abnormally tall compared to humans, enough that he'd be considered an anomaly even without the tentacle legs. In his human disguise form, he's average in most ways, although he is notably good looking. He usually doesn't alter the upper half of his body for his walkaround form. Not much, anyway.
Appearance: In his normal form, he looks mostly normal on his upper half. He's pale skinned with a well contoured face, and very skinny. His lower half is the same dark red found in the skin of octopi.
Age: 21. Appears about his age on his human half, but nobody really knows what to think of the nonopus half.
Specialty: Problem solving. He enjoys riddles and puzzles of all sorts.
Likes: Coffee, fiction novels, and chaos theory.
Dislikes: Not much. Malevolent people, really. That's about it. Also fire, but I'll get into that later.
Powers: He's a Shapeshifter! Apart from that, he knows a good amount of water and ice based magic as well as a few tricks with runes and rituals. His favorite spell for combat is an acid conjuration spell, and his favorite spell outside of combat brews a wonderful cup of coffee out of thin air.
Weaknesses: Shapeshifting is restricted by a large number of things. For one thing, he can't transmute into any substance not found in biological life. He could turn from human into a tree, but he can't turn into metal or plastic or anything like that. He cannot assume the form of any species whose body is inherently illogical according to the laws of physics, most notably anything with a fluid form. This brings me to the next point, which is that he is not fluid in nature. No matter what form he is in, if you try to strike him it is very much possible to land the blow, he won't just dissolve into slime and assume a new form or some such nonsense. Shapeshifting is a concious and intricate process. Though he can do it whilst focusing on something else, it is not a reflex nor an instinct. He has to specifically attempt to do it or it will not happen. He cannot change his body mass past reducing to to 1/9th of the original or increasing it to nine times the original. Also, when out of his normal form he's much less heat resistant. Fire and other heat producing things are horrible for him. In addition, shapeshifters just aren't very magic resistant in general.
Personality: He's not terribly enthusiastic about most things, although he can get excited in the right circumstances. He tends to keep to himself and his books, spending a great deal of time reading. He invites challenges of any kind, mostly because he's slightly egotistic. He knows that, and tries to repress it, but can't help being a little bit prideful at times.
History: He moved to the city when he was younger, searching for a comfortable place to live. As far as he's concerned, he's found it. He enjoys life in the city a great deal. He has a stable job as a waiter for a local cafe (up to you whether it's the one we're starting in or not. I don't care either way.) and lives close to the edge of the city in a rather large apartment.
Other: He has caffeine addiction from several years of drinking coffee way too frequently.

| Name: Dimitrius Flynn
Nickname(s): Dimitri
Gender: Male
Species:Zombie
Build: Standing at 6'4 and weighing a measly 175 lbs Dimitrius looks like a lanky string bean of a man. Age: Died at 19 .appears 20 , is actually 21 Speciality:
Connman : Dimitri is a master of conning people out of there money be it through games or bunk "voodoo charms" which he sells to those foolish to believe in him.
Theif: Given Dimitri's less that reputable up bringing he had had to steal or go belly up, afyet all, ain nothing in this world for free, is there?
Smooth talker: In order to successfully make a living off swindling people, one must have a sharp toungue and an even sharper mind, Dimitri specializes in smooth talking his way out and into things.
Likes:
Challenges: Dimitri loves a good challenge especially when they are over confident.
Money: Dimitri has a greedy obsession with it, money is his achilles tendon, throw oney in the mix, and he'll do anything, take it away and he's crippled.
Foolhardy and naive: Dimitri loves the foolish and naive , they are his easiest prey
Dislikes:
Persistence: Any nail that rears its head will be hammered down, Dimitri finds persistence annoying.
Intellect: Dimitri hates those in direct postion to threaten him with their intellect, makes things harder for him.
Powers: Dimitri wields the power of necromancy, he can resurrect a zombie slave OR a restless spirit to do his spirit however each spirit only possesses one ability, Posession, or poultergeistry . Raising a dead zombie do his will is his other option, this zombie will look like a human, but will be a souless slave to Dimitri's will
Weaknesses: Conjuration: only one of anything can be conjured at a time
Spirits: If the spirit is unwilling to help Dimitri get squat, its a sort of luck of the draw type thing, its ability is also random, and, ubegknownst to him, its powers cant be directly used on anyone affected by a lower or upper realm. The spirits only can stay in this realm for about 15 minutes, and can also only come from the middle or lower realms for some reason.
Zombies: Dimitri's soulless slave worker, it has no choice but to do Dimitri's bidding for all of 30 minutes, in the last 10, it will deteriorate to dust.
Personality:
Perceived: Dimitri comes off as an eccentric smoothtalker, and to those with a healthy dose of common sense they know ya cant trust him as far as ya can throw 'im. He seems sly , and a bit on the wild side, never doing things without an angle.
True personality: Dimitri is a shark, looking for prey, his past experiences have left him with no morals, as he's found he either had to abandon them or die, he also lacks compassion, bordering on being a, if not already a full blown SOCIOPATH. Everything in his eyesis viewed as either a gatewa hy to get something he wants, a possession, or an obstacle, and no matter what place you are viewed as, none are all that great. Being broody when he's not up to a scam, Dimitri is just as likely to gut someone and steal all their pocket change as he is smile and razzle dazzle them to scam them out of it, wich one you get is entirely depentdent on his mood.
History: Growing up in one of the poorest towns in georgia, after his mother took him and relocated out of haiti, Dimitri has had nothing but problems from the day he set foot on american soil. He had a strange accent, which oddly enough, was one of the only things people liked about dimitri, Everyone in his neigborhood knew to keep valuables away from him, and what little comfort he had from the life he lived with his mother didnt last long. Killings were a common occurence where dimitri lived, and he knew it, there were at least 15 other people who witnessed it, no one ever even bothered to call the police, not that they would have been much help to Dimitri anyway. Ever since Dimitri had rolled the streets, scrounging for food, he never kept friends very long though, a few of them even pointed him in the right direction of the one who killed his mom, it was an older woman, mid 50's. That didnt really change Dimitri's mind about what he did when he found her, and after that, dimitri found himself killing friends, he found friends trying to kill him, he found he had no real friends. One can only be on the rn for so long, before someone faster catches up with 'em.Dimitri had been trying to get away for so long, he had run crappy little cheap scams just to get something to eat, slept in some of the crummiest ditches georgia had to offer, and yet, he knew it was only temporary, any moment one of his old friends he had been to scared to ice, when he was younger, or the family members of one of the friends he had been ballsy enough to kill, would come crashing in. Just like he knew one of them would one of them caught him, on the corner of a street, he ran five blocks but there were more waiting for him, they caught him in an alleyway, one shot between the eyes was all it took, after about 10 in the chest, and two in the leg. But they all wanted him to suffer, what they didnt know was, this particular spot was one of the lesser known weakened boundries between the realms. When he died, all he did was fall, for hours it seemed he fell, into a bright purple dicsus, that spanned for what seemed forever, there he met five spirits, five HUNGRY spirits, who gave his life something he never had, direction, and a purpouse, In return for his soul, they zombified healed all his current wounds to allow him the appearances of a normal humal, however, the deal required a seal, usually they would just burn the skull into his back, but he was more creative, he decided to have the image of the skull bleached onto his face, bearing a striking resemblence to voodoo shamans, as for his soul, that was his free will, and he is now forced to do whatever they wish, and as for what they wanted him to do, he had to make a fresh kill every full moon to feed them the soul, personally , he prefers scumbags .
Other: Has a voodoo skull bleached onto his face
There will be a picture to follow this sometime tomorrow |

| Wow, I'm really sorry I've not gotten back to anyone yet! I've been surprisingly busy. I'm gonna start going through these now, and when I'm done I'll post a loooong post responding to all of them. If you'd rather I messaged you rather than posting publicly, just let me know c:
In other news, I foolishly forgot to include a general appearance section. I'll be adding in mine on my character form, and I'd like to ask you all to do so too whenever you get the time c: thank you! |

| So, gutters... I forgot to ask about the most important thing in any fantasy setting, modern or otherwise.
How are the dragons?
If you haven't gotten around to developing them in your setting, I got a few ideas that you might like. If you can't tell, I love dragons. |

| I guess this was a flop, no?
Anyway, since it doesn't look like this is going to start, at least not anytime soon, im going to put my character sheet out in the open.
Name: Waiter number 7 (His creator was lazy in naming him)
Nickname(s): Sev
Gender: Looks male, identifies with being male, but technically doesn’t have a biological gender
Species: An Awakened Golem (meaning a golem that is now sentient and has a soul)
Build: He is 6 feet tall, so slightly taller than the average person. He looks lean and well built physically (he was carved that way.) His face is made to look striking and handsome, with angular features and has brown feather hair on top of his head (Carved version of his hair looks the same under his glamour)
Age: 3 months, physically he looks to be in his late 20’s
Speciality: Photographic memory, Excellent at cooking, Can speak several languages (English, Mandarin, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, and Korean) Highly observant. Knows advanced Military hand to hand defense tactics and techniques (all information was ‘programmed’ into him during his creation).
Likes: Likes information and is constantly asking questions. He also has a soft heart (so to speak) for children, and is extremely polite to women.
Dislikes: Vampires, hates them to the degree he will attack and destroy on sight. He generally dislikes being referred to as an object, and does not appreciate being lied too. He has no understanding of sarcasm.
Powers: As a golem, his body is made magically enhanced solid stone. He doesn’t need to breath or sleep and cannot feel pain. He is also several times stronger than a human and can run as fast as an Olympic athlete. His reaction time is superhuman and near instantaneous, basically up to a cat’s level of sight and movements. His body is made of stone that is stronger, more resilient and lighter than ordinary stone, but is still quite heavy do to his mass.
He also has two defensive enchantments placed on his body as well, one is of self repair and the other is a glamour that makes him look like he’s flesh and blood.
The Repair spell is made to repair the stone body back to its original state, by ‘eating rock, sand, or stone, his body converts it to the correct substance and repairs chips, cracks and crevasses. The healing time generally takes about an hour for minor injuries, and longer for bigger such as removed limbs that need reattaching. Precious stones that are used speed up the process and also can be used to make new limbs if enough is available.
His glamour is a simple glamour. His body is carved to look human with detail but is a dull grey and clearly stone so the glamour hides that fact by putting a layer of illusion to make the stone look like flesh and blood, but that is it. It cannot fool touch nor hides the fact that he is essentially odorless. It just makes him look human to the eye. The glamour also does not cover damage sections, so the stone underneath will be visible if chipped or cracked but the glamour will cover it again as soon as it is repaired.
Weaknesses: His biggest weakness his core, his ruby heart. It is literally a large ruby gem the size of his fist that sits where his heart should be. If that is destroyed, he dies, and he cannot repair this part by himself, so damage to his heart is potentially fatal. If his body is utterly destroyed but his heart is intact, he can technically be placed into a new body, but with his heart exposed, he is vulnerable to new programming and adjustments to his knowledge, memory, and personality. The person could also break the spell that gives him life if they are sufficiently knowledgeable in how golems work. He can mentally try to resist such changes and attacks on his heart, but they have the advantage of him unable to stop them from continuing to try. Note: Affecting his heart can only be done when it is removed from the body and by touch.
He also has a control rod that is linked to him made of platinum but is in an unknown location. It can be used to give him commands that he be forced to follow unless it is broken.
Personality: He is curious and helpful toward others. He is looking for answers why he became sentient, and has a verbal tic of never referring to himself as I, or by name until asked. Instead he refers to himself as ‘this one’. Example “This one wishes to use the restroom. May this one enter the establishment before him?”
History: He was made to be the servant golem of a sorceress by the name Avlene Vawlor. Avlene was an eccentric woman that loved to be surrounded by attractive men and attended to all day long and built as business to cater towards women by making golems to do exactly that and was extremely successful at her business. Basically it was a male strip club. Sev was the newest golem she created under her command to serve as a waiter to bring the guests drinks and to be eye candy and also to act as one of her guards if the need arise. Dim lights, the glamour, and being drunk easily disguised her staff. Then one day, she double-crossed the local coven of vampires on a business deal, overconfident in her power and safety. She was wrong.
The coven sent a vampire to go and kill her, and she was unable to act fast enough to call her golems to her aid and was brutally killed. Sev was first to find both the vampire and his mistress, acting on his ‘program’ to protect his master until he saw it was too late. Technically, with his purpose done, he should have stopped moving to await new commands from whoever would find his control rod. He instead felt his first emotion since his creation and promptly tore the vampires head off, killing it.
He then wandered confused out of the establishment, his new ability to feel emotion overwhelmed him and he found himself just aimlessly wandering around the city. He had received a soul, he did not know why or how, it could have been a part of his masters new experiments into making golems, if someone had given him it that night, or a miracle occurred. All he knows is now he has one and doesn’t know what to do with it.
He decides to head for a town with a famous pub (famous in the supernatural world) that he remembers hearing about from one of the master’s clients, his goal is to find someone with answers.
He is essentially homeless
Other: He is currently wearing clothes given to him by a hobo. Really dirty and torn, but still clothes. |

| before i start, i’d like to first apologise for taking so long ive actually had this whole post completed and saved on word for a few weeks but i straight-up forgot to post it till now this summer has been busier than i expected also im pretty ill right now so feel free to ask me if you need stuff clarified but don’t expect too much of me just now sorry again also sorry if i come across as harsh at all this setting is really important to me, so i can get pretty defensive of it at times, but ive tried to be fair Aden: - Spoiler:
Can you explain how he gets people to give him their stuff? That’s a pretty impressive talent, but combined with his ‘rough’ personality seems a little unlikely. I’m cool with him being able to do that but can we get a little more detail please?
Why doesn’t he like Ireland? It seems a pretty arbitrary thing to dislike.
Can you go into more detail about the limits of his firebending? How big are the flames he can make, what level of control does he have, etc? Can he do fireballs or just set fires? Is it pure magic or does his rhino skin work like a flint?
I get excited about magic. Tell me everything ever, ahahahahaaa
Tired old men who aren’t actually old are my favourite. I live with one. It’s great. Also is that an 8-bit theatre reference? That’s cute as hell.
Can you maybe add a little more information about his history? Maybe tell us about his parents/childhood, and any jobs he’s had, what he’s done since moving up to earth. Also I know you said unspecified reasons, but there’s gotta be at least one reason, right?
I’ve been thinking of also bringing in a demon character a little later on in the rp, and I think they’ll get along. UvU
Mostly I’d just like more details please! Also, if you could tell us what he actually looks like under all the clothes, that’d be interesting ouo
Loraine: - Spoiler:
I’m gonna be honest with you, most of my problems with Lorry are down to clashing lore. First off, fairies are almost always born and grow up in the fey world, which is called ‘Up’ or ‘Above’. The exception, of course, is changelings, though then her (foster/presumed) parents would be human (though you weren’t too clear on that tbh).
I’m also not particularly comfortable with the idea of a fairy’s wings growing in after 10 years. Since they’re born fairies, wouldn’t they be born with wings? If you decide on making her a changeling this would make a little more sense - the glamour put on her to disguise her as human could wear off when she’s ten?
I’d love to know more specifics about her magic – also she does seem to have a lot of magic. I’m not gonna force you but do consider reducing them a little. It’s mostly the manipulation of the elements that’s bothering me UvU
Also why would the effects of iron on a fairy change over time? I’d like to request you keep iron as dangerous to her as it would be for any fairy, if that’s ok.
Most of the stuff you’ve written about her personality seems quite randomly chosen, like you’ve chosen a bunch of things that you like the sound of and then shoved them together. Does that make sense? I’d suggest that perhaps instead of saying she can ‘detach her emotions’ rather try something about her lacking empathy most of the time, which means she can still have emotions of her own without feeling sorry for others or considering their feelings.
I’m also really confused about her age – especially combined with her history.
Can you explain in more detail? You say she’s about fifty but looks nineteen, but then you say that 10 years old is about 18 for a fairy.
Also uh. Please research how university/college works. It won’t take you long and you’ll be able to make her education way more believable. Degrees in ‘Forensic Science and Mythology’ don’t exist, but if she’s fifty, then it’s fairly reasonable for her to have more than one degree (though having them in such different fields, less so. perhaps she did forensic science and used some of her extra credits to take a mythology course?). Also to get a PhD in something, you generally need to have done a degree in it or a related field first, and according to Wikipedia (i just googled ‘PhD’ not gonna lie) ‘A candidate must submit a project or thesis or dissertation consisting of a body of original academic research, which is in principle worthy of publication in a peer-reviewed context’ which means you can’t have a PhD in Psychology – you just get a PhD, and hers would be on a subject within psychology. PhDs usually take about 4 years, sometimes more, in the UK. This is all stuff I found out with a quick google, by the way! c: Why does she work in a restaurant if she has all these qualifications, by the way? Is it just because she likes it? I’m sure she could easily get a job with the police (im assuming she’s a private detective?) or as a professional psychologist, after all. Even if she does look nineteen, she’s got a birth certificate, right?
I take it her parents died within the last 8 or so years, right, if her sister’s wings haven’t grown in yet (though like I said before, that’s not really something that makes much sense to me)
She seems like a really cute and fun character for this rp, there’s just a few basic details that need polishing over, and I hope I’ve managed to explain them without offending you! c:
If you wanna have a long chat about fey lore I’m totally up for that, just PM me, ok?
Oliver: - Spoiler:
Gonna be honest with you – shapeshifters aren’t something I think about too often, and I’ve not really touched on them when it comes to this setting, so I’m just gonna roll with it. I’m assuming the doctor was aware that Olive was gonna be a shapeshifter, and wasn’t too frightened when the baby came out all tentacle-y? Hahaha.
Why is he abnormally tall? Is there a reason for that? Did he choose his human appearance/build/whatever, or is that just how he turned out? Does he have a condition that makes him that tall or is it just because you wanted him to be more unique?
The weaknesses/limitations are basically exactly what I’d want from a shapeshifter, really. Sensible stuff. That’s basically all I ever want, to have magic that’s limited enough to be believeable UvU
What are the biggest and smallest things he can become?
(we’re starting in a pub, not a café, by the way, just so you know! c: )
How’d he afford such a large flat on a waiter’s salary, by the way?
Zeke’s a coffee fiend too – I think they’ll get on.
Dimitri: - Spoiler:
My main problem with Dimitri is literally just that you’ve used the wrong terminology to describe him, from what I can tell. A zombie, particularly in Voodoo, is a mindless husk controlled by someone with the power to raise the dead. Or at least, that’s a nice simple way of saying it, I guess. But Dimitri is someone who has made a deal with a higher power to remain immortal and have necromantic powers – that is to say, a lich. Liches are really cool, I recommend you research them a little and decide if that fits him better. Certainly seems that way to me.
My only other real ‘problems’ with Dimitri are mostly to do with the way you write. I don’t intend to put a huge emphasis on spelling and grammar, but some of your sentences are nigh-incomprehensible. It’s really hard to read and understand what you’re trying to say about Dimitri, particularly in the history section. I’m not gonna ask you to rewrite the entire thing, but I’m gonna make a list of questions here, and also maybe ask you to change a couple little things probably. Gonna go through it a but at a time to make it easier on myself.
This is probably gonna come across as pretty harsh, but I’m genuinely trying to help you make Dimitri a character who will fit in the setting I’ve provided. By Georgia I’m assuming you mean the country, right? Why did his mother take him to Haiti specifically? Is it just because you wanted him involved in voodoo?
Why didn’t people like him? Because he was/is a thief? It’s pretty unclear.
Again, why did they move to Haiti if it’s so dangerous to live there? Why not move somewhere they could actually be relatively safe? Why didn’t the police investigate his mother’s death at all? Even if none of the other 15 people did anything, wouldn’t Dimitri have tried?
How long did he spend on the streets? How did people know who had killed his mother? Why did his mother get killed? Is it just so he can have an angsty backstory?
Why did he start killing his friends? You basically don’t give any reasons for anything, stuff just happens. Please, please give me reasons for things! Pleaaaase.
Weakened boundaries between the realms is great – but I’ve specified the existing realms beside our own and the one Dimitri found himself in doesn’t sound like either. Can I suggest instead that he went ‘under’ and made a contract with a demon or monster or spirit or some such thing? That in exchange for his soul, and for becoming their puppet and acting as they will it, he became a lich, receiving undeath and necromantic abilities?
Also bleach doesn’t just…make skin paler. It blisters and burns. Google image search ‘caustic burn’ to see what I mean. It’s gross as shit and if you want his face to look like that then sure but please remember that people’s treatment of him will mostly be based on pity if he has a burn scar on his face.
Finally, why does he prefer to murder scumbags, since he doesn’t seem to have had that sort of preference prior to his change?
Oh actually. One more thing – how and why has he moved to this city in England, and where does he live now? That’s…pretty important and the main thing I asked to be included in the history section.
Seven: - Spoiler:
Ok I really fucking love golems, they’re great. Just a couple issues that need cleared up, really.
First question: Why and how did he get a soul? I know he doesn’t know but you need to know, since you’re the one writing him. And I need to know as the host of this rp! ‘It just happened’ is perfectly fine when you’re writing from his point of view, but out of character we need a reason.
Why does he speak so many languages and know advanced defence if he was built to be a waiter? The photographic memory makes sense, since he’s inorganic, and cooking is a good skill for a waiter, but the rest seems out of nowhere.
The ‘killing vampires on sight’ thing is my main problem, tbh. This rp is set in a city where the non-human population is unnaturally high, and as such there is a shitton of vampires in town, most of whom obey the law (both human and vampire law, that is) and very few of whom ever kill. So if Sev were to kill even one vampire, he’d be a criminal. There are quite a few vampires who are regulars and even employees at Jenny’s, too – and if he killed one in the pub, the bar staff wouldn’t hesitate to take him down and fully dismantle him.
So that’s…an issue. Especially since I’m kinda aiming for this to be more of a puzzle-solving/social rp, rather than a Fight Maim Kill rp.
Also why does he refer to himself as ‘this one’? It just makes me think you really like Rurouni Kenshin and there doesn’t seem to be a reason for it other than to make him more Quirky and Interesting. He’s already interesting, he doesn’t need it tbh.
Jenny’s isn’t a particularly famous pub. The city itself is well-known to be a (relatively) safe place for non-humans though, so don’t worry too hard about it.
Why is he wearing hobo clothes, by the way? He presumably doesn’t sweat or anything, so why did he feel the need to change out of his own clothes after leaving his home? If there was blood on his clothes, why not change before he left?

| Ok I got some answers and small fixes. - Seven spoilers:
First Question and Second Question too sorta: His master was doing a little experimentation. Sev was her first experiment to design something with a soul. The base for the soul was actually in him for a long time, it needing a suitable catalyst, which his master was working on before she was killed. The secret to make a soul and the base itself was actually 'given/stolen' from the vampire clan that killed her, the sight being a dramatic enough catalyst to fully form the soul.
As the first golem in her collection to have a soul, it would been one of a kind and worth a lot, make her famous in a big way. So to prevent him from getting stolen and reprogrammed so that some one else can have the credit, she gave him the best self defense knowledge she could, he wouldn't be taken easily. The many languages are more her being a little bored and doing it because she could, most of the languages were added after creation, as she was trying to figure out a proper catalyst, get bored and did it because it wouldn't hurt none. Why have all people understand just how brilliant she was.
Being a waiter was temporary and a good way to get some use out of him, and hide her project in plain sight. She still is a lazy namer though.
3: I will tone down the killing vampires on sight, to severe distrust. He is not a fan, but I wont have him attack on site, just don't expect him to be very chummy with one.
4: He refers to himself as 'this one' mostly because it is a submissive form a speech, not acknowledging himself as a true individual. Blame his master for the quirk, she gave it to all her golems. He might grow out of it, but right now it is still a default program kinda thing.
5: The hobo clothes are a gift. As a waiter, he wasn't wearing much cloths to begin with, just nice pants shoes really, it was that type of club. He met a nice guy on the street who gave him the clothes, the guy thought he might freeze to death. SO he is still wearing the nice pants, but the clothes are a gift, his first gift really. He likes them, he doesn't understand that they make him look like a handsome hobo. He especially likes his hole-filled scarf.
Edit: You know whats funny and I just realized. I have never watched more than one full episode of Kenshin. I'm not kidding. So any resemblance to anything in the show is very funny cause I literally don't remember anything about the show besides the fact that some guy has a reverse sword. The 'this one' thing is based on more how Shale from Dragon Age Origins speaks as she is also a golem, though she does it more in a mocking sort of way. |

How exactly is magic kept a secret, are there men in black making sure, is there some sort of massive enchantment making the supernatural seem ordinary, how are people intent on breaking the silence handled or people that are dangerous in the magical sort of way whose acts are obviously supernatural since they don't care or are in too much of a panic to protect such a secret? |

| Okay, I have pretty good answers for all of those. I'm glad there weren't any super significant problems! - Spoiler:
First off, it's a race rather than a mutation, so his parents are shapeshifters too. The doctor knew generally what to expect, barring extreme circumstances. a nonmagical doctor for instance. But for the sake of simplicity I'll just say it was an average birth without spectacle.
Now, to answer your inquiries.
1. Shapeshifters in general are slightly taller than humans. The idea is that it's a result of their highly concentrated mass. I probably should have mentioned that they're also extremely heavy, once again because of the mass thing. From a design standpoint though, with me as the designer, I just like tall characters. By abnormally tall, we're talking just shy of seven feet.
2. His human disguise form is completely of his own creation, although the upper half is simply his regular upper body with enhanced looks. He wants to feel handsome occasionally, after all. He could take a completely different human form should he so desire, but it would be much more difficult to assume then the form he's made into a default.
3. The largest would probably be about the size and weight of an average adult elephant. He could theoretically go larger, but it would take extreme effort, and he wouldn't get any heavier; so it really wouldn't be worth the effort. The smallest is about the size and weight of a rather fat guinea pig. In this case, that's actually the smallest he could go- although he could redistribute the same amount of mass into a longer, thinner form if he needed to go through a small hole or something. Incidentally, his normal form has about the same weight as, say, a lion. (About 400 pounds)
4. His parents bought him the apartment. He tries not to live off their money, but they insisted he them do that much for him. They're the type of parents who have nothing really better to do with no kids in the house then try to spoil their son with gifts. He tries to take as little as possible, but they bought the place without telling him and it was a non refundable deal, so he couldn't really refuse.

Iiiii'm pretty sure I answered this before? Wait, no, I answered why everything is kept secret, but it basically covers how tbh. 'Magic is kept a secret for two reasons. One, it's traditional - it's always been that way and no one sees any need to change it. Two, if magic were known to the general public, everyone would expect magic to solve every problem in the world, and that simply isn't possible. Plus wizards are kinda lazy. There are plenty of humans who do know about magic, but the majority of them would rather use it for themselves.' in short, people keep it a secret because 'its always been that way'. as for those people who are intent on breaking the silence, and those who are dangerous...that's usually down to the people around them - friends, family, co-workers - to take care of. that, or someone will be hired to take care of the issue one way or another. thats...kinda the point of this rp tbh. i'm gonna have a few options for which job(s) for our characters to take, but 'risk of exposure' is often the most likely reason for our party to get hired. - Von Aardvark wrote:

Man. the similarities between Zeke and Oliver are crazy; his dad bought his apartment, too, though Zeke actually agreed to it (albeit reluctantly. and he forced his dad to make it a combined birthday/christmas present). The mass stuff makes enough sense within 'its magic so that's how it is' and is still fairly logical. nice one. (also i have a stupidly tall character too, who i miiiiight add to this rp if i feel he's needed. were in sync, dude. spooky) - SpiderVoodoo wrote:

Can you explain how he gets people to give him their stuff? That’s a pretty impressive talent, but combined with his ‘rough’ personality seems a little unlikely. I’m cool with him being able to do that but can we get a little more detail please? It's not so much asking for stuff as it is taking it and they dont even know. He's a pickpocket. Sometimes he poses as a shitty conman, but that's just to see which pocket people keep their money in, and he doesn't actually make any money off tricking people. - guttersvoice wrote:
- Why doesn’t he like Ireland? It seems a pretty arbitrary thing to dislike.
Well, Ireland is famous as a pretty devout nation, and I don't imagine that as something that makes demons feel welcome. Lots of sacred-ground type stuff there. Other than that, it's also got the whole used-to-be-way-into-fairies thing going for it? Which isn't great for demons either, necessarily. - guttersvoice wrote:
- Can you go into more detail about the limits of his firebending? How big are the flames he can make, what level of control does he have, etc? Can he do fireballs or just set fires? Is it pure magic or does his rhino skin work like a flint?
I get excited about magic. Tell me everything ever, ahahahahaaa It's purely magical, but he'll snap his fingers because he thinks it looks better that way. About 25 cm by 5 cm or equivalent is the limit of his conjuration, and he can make pre-existing fire move a little bit. If his house were to catch fire, he could sit there throughout and keep the fire from going near a filing cabinet or something, just sort of push and pull it around a bit. It'd be easier to carry it out though. He can conjure in simple shapes, but they wont be perfect or near-perfect; he could make a ball easily enough, but it wouldn't be entirely spherical. He couldn't even approach anything complex. He mostly uses it as a lighter. The effective range is about ten metres. He's not a powerful demon at all, haha. - guttersvoice wrote:
- Tired old men who aren’t actually old are my favourite. I live with one. It’s great. Also is that an 8-bit theatre reference? That’s cute as hell.
Maybe sometimes I tailor my ideas to impress people a little bit. Just a little bit. - guttersvoice wrote:
- Can you maybe add a little more information about his history? Maybe tell us about his parents/childhood, and any jobs he’s had, what he’s done since moving up to earth. Also I know you said unspecified reasons, but there’s gotta be at least one reason, right?
His parents and him got along alright, for a set value of getting along thats a little less familial and a little more "Well, son, here's some free food and a place to sleep, and you can entertain yourself." They lived together, and liked each other, but didn't really spend time together, and don't really talk now. Not as a matter of not wanting to talk, it's just not really worth the hassle. As for why he came up, he's just sort of a pathetic demon, so staying down under with the Cool And Strong Demons isn't really something he's necessarily into. - guttersvoice wrote:
- I’ve been thinking of also bringing in a demon character a little later on in the rp, and I think they’ll get along. UvU
Oh, great! - guttersvoice wrote:
- Mostly I’d just like more details please! Also, if you could tell us what he actually looks like under all the clothes, that’d be interesting ouo
I will PROBABLY need to provide details as I come up with them, haha. Sorry! His muscles aren't particularly defined, so his body just sort of looks like some image of an Anonymous Person, with an average shape and size and all greyed out. His skin is fairly wrinkly and there are a couple places where the skin folds over itself, but it's nothing special.[/quote] |
